RUMINATIONS is the email column I have been writing regularly since sending the first issue to twenty friends in 1997. A compilation of the first four years of the column, then known as Ruminations on College Life, was published in a book by the same name in 2002.

After publication of the book, I changed the name of the email column to simply RUMINATIONS. Broadly speaking, RUMINATIONS is an irreverent look at what I call the “Whatever Years” – that time in your twenties when you are living in the gap between college and marriage, between zero responsibility and total responsibility.

In 2005, my second book, Ruminations on Twentysomething Life, was published, consisting of the best of the first twenty-five issues of RUMINATIONS, as well as tons of previously unpublished material. After the book came out, I changed the format of RUMINATIONS from monthly to bi-weekly, and I now email it out every other Monday.

My latest RUMINATIONS columns pick up where Ruminations on Twentysomething Life leaves off and follow me, now approaching my late twenties, as I continue to ponder life as a recovering frat boy.
